Day 16 and 17 - Gabriola to Montague Harbour, Galiano Island

August 15 and 16

Before leaving Silva Bay, Leo shot a couple of early morning pics.

On our way to Galiano.  What am I pointing at anyway?

As we cruised alongside Galiano, we caught sight of the lovely little guest cottage we stayed at a few years ago, before we had a boat.  The main house is on the left, the cottage far right.

We arrived at Montague Harbour quite early and there were lots of mooring buoys to chose from.  After lunch and some lazing about, Tara spotted and heard some kids swimming nearby.  This really peaked her interest.  She hasn't swam too much on this trip and she loves swimming more than anything so we took her to the shore and she had a great time fetching a big ol' stick!

Leo forgot to take the camera so we didn't get pics of her swimming but here she is on the swim step soaking wet afterwards.

We were lazy today and did not go for a hike.  As the sun set, more photos were taken.  The water was dead calm tonight.

Next day - August 16, 2010

We started the morning off with a walk (our last one of the trip) around Point Grey.  In between Montague Harbour and the other side of Galiano is a pretty ithsmus that dries.  There is a pretty bay with a white shell beach on the other side.

Tara's raring to go!

Along the trail - I will miss the Arbutus trees!

Back to the dock

After the walk, we headed to the little cafe at the marina here hoping for some fish n chips before we set off for home.  Poo! They didn't have any so I settled for a veggie burger and clam chowder.  It was good, though.

Time for home now, after leaving Galiano, not much to photgraph out in the Strait.  But the strait was very calm and it was a pleasant ride home.

Tara says thank you for reading!

End note:
We are so fortunate to live where there is so much beauty to take in at every turn.  The west coast is truly a boater's paradise and I feel blessed and extremly thankful that I can be a part of the experience.  I feel especially grateful for a husband who can put up with me on a small boat for two weeks!

Thanks for reading everyone - hope you enjoyed!
