Day 11 - August 10, 2010- Wallace Island

Today was a wonderful day on Wallace Island.  The sun was out, quite hot actually and we enjoyed good exercise, scenery, and socializing with some other boaters.

As promised, here is a shot of the little masked critter we saw in the apple tree yesterday.

We watched a few boats leaving early this morning.  The sailboats have to wait for a higher tide to get in and out of this bay with it's tricky shallow entrance.

After an early lunch (skipped breakkie today) we decided to go to "Chiver's Poinnt" on the north of Wallace Is.  It is a very pretty, mostly wooded walk through dappled sulight, which is a good thing as it was quite hot today.

Something unexpected in the meadow.

Our reward at the end of the 2 1/2 mile walk.

We sat and watched this little guy gulp down a starfish.  He got most of it down before flying off with the rest in his mouth

After dinner we took the dinghy out to visit the other cove here, Princesss Cove.  It is a lot bigger but not as protected.  There were some choppy patches on the way back.

Returning home to Conover Cove

There is a picture of this arbutus tree in one of our cruising guide books.  It is alive and in full leaf.  Now it is dead but I think it still looks beautiful standing there silluetted against the twilit sky.

Tonight some sailboaters next door invited us over for a bit to sit in their cockpit, they have been sailing for the past six weeks.

Tomorrow its on to Otter Bay marina in Hyashi Cove in N. Pender Island.
