We left Thetis Island this morning just as the rain started. It settled down pretty quickly but still, it was a gloomy, misty voyage.
Skipper at the helm
When we got to Conover Cove on Wallace Island, the darn rain had started up again. Two boats were just leaving the dock so we waited for their spot. You can anchor here with a stern tie, but because it was wet, we opted for the dock.
Then, we had a delicious lunch of blackberry pie and ice cream that we got on Thetis. gotta eat up that ice cream as we will only have battery power for the next few days!
Mmmmm, and yes, it WAS delicious!
Then, for a little walk. Conover Cove is named for David Conover, the author who wrote "One Man's Island" and "Once Upon an Island" in the 1940's. He lived here and had a resort as well.
On his property is his home, which was originally built in the 1800's, which he added to, and a "picnic house". In 1996, people started leaving their "business cards" here - the picnic table is still inside.

Tara startled a darling little racoon up an apple tree where Leo got some wonderful pictures. We were later told by some folks at the docks, the racoons are very friendly here and will come aboard your boat and help themselves if you don't lock everything up
I missed uploading the racoon pic but will do so tomorrow.
We took the walk to the south, to "Panther Point", named for a ship that went down in 1874. There is a magnificent Arbutus at the tip of the point.
A nice guy from N. Carolina took this of the three of us. Not the kind of picture you want to set the timer and the "run" !!!
Heading back - grassy trails
Arbutus shed their leaves year round and they are plentful here so there are lots of leaves lying on the trails.
Blues Breaker awaits us at the dock.
The sun has made a reappearance and it feels so good to soak up some rays back at the dock. The cover stayed on the barbie tonight - we had mac & cheese with weiners.
Hand made sailboat and tender stern-tied.

Enjoying the sun's last rays from the cockpit.
See you next time!
